Seal shades preview for Registry-ID labels

Seal Shades

These are the six grayscale seal variants used with Author Imprint Registry-ID labels. The goal is simple: choose the option that gives the strongest contrast against your cover background so the seal stays readable at thumbnail size.

Recommendation:
The seal should never overpower the book cover. It is intended to be discreet yet clearly visible, supporting authenticity without competing with the title, artwork, or author name.

ID2 β€” Dark Grey

Low-shine option
ID2 seal: dark grey background with white writing and border
  • For covers where pure black feels too harsh.
  • Great on near-black backgrounds with subtle texture.
  • Pairs well with charcoal, slate, dark photography, muted designs.

ID3a β€” Medium Grey

Medium grey background β€’
White writing + border

Mid-tone match
ID3 seal: medium grey background with black writing and border
  • Best for mid-grey or neutral covers where you want a softer look.
  • Good for minimal designs, matte greys, beige, muted palettes.
  • Choose this when you want contrast without β€œhigh contrast” styling.

ID3b β€” Medium Grey

Medium grey background β€’
Black writing + border

Mid-tone match
ID3 seal: medium grey background with white writing and border
  • Useful when the cover is mid-tone but trends darker.
  • Good on smoky greys, textured stone, darker neutral artwork.
  • If ID2 feels too dark, this is the next clean option.

ID4 β€” Light Grey

Light grey background β€’
Black writing + border

Soft light option
ID4 seal: light grey background with black writing and border
  • Best for light covers where white would disappear.
  • Good for creams, pastels, pale photography, minimalist covers.
  • Still readable, but softer than pure white.

ID5 β€” White

White background β€’
Black writing + border

Recommended default
ID5 seal: white background with black writing and border
  • Best on light covers and busy artwork where contrast matters.
  • Often the clearest option on Amazon thumbnails.
  • Works well on white, cream, pale colours, and high-key photos.
Best practice: If you are unsure, choose ID1 (Black) for dark covers and ID5 (White) for light covers. If the cover background is mid-tone, test both ID3 variants at thumbnail size and pick the clearest.
